My aunt Betty passed into the sweet bosom of Jesus yesterday. She had a big heart. She was always first to call and offer her laundry services, use of her car, to take me to eat for fun. We drove around for hours in metro New Orleans deciding where our appetites would best be satiated. She gave me my first taste of KD Lang, Paul Simon, the soundtrack from Dirty Dancing, and the soundtrack to Stand By Me. She was an inverterate road tripper, picking me up and taking me to visit New Orleans and to many, many, camp Blochs. She loved Marlboro Light 100's and Stolichnaya Vodka, served straight from the freezer.
I loved listening to stories of her living in the French Quarter, visiting manhattan during the summer, and watching the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade. She taught me the terms "King's X", "gentle reminder", "Church of the Holy Comforter", and "Values Clarification". She will be sorely missed by all.
I was saddened to read that Betty had died. She lived across the hall from me at Northwestern, when we were freshman. She was always fun to have around.

ReplyDeleteBetty was my best friend in high school. We created many a story. I gave her the first "lips" when she was in the hospital in Alexandria. I would to have a copy of the pic in this post.
