country music, amazon.com and Miami

I am stuck in Miami, being 2 minutes late for a flight that someone changed to an 9:10 pm flight anway, and I am a little miserable. I keep thinking "How nice would it be to be at home!" Very nice, very nice indeed. I can't really complain though. I get to come home tonight anyway from this very short trip. I left this morning and I am already coming back!
Just finished a country music show in Gulfport, Mississippi. Among the acts were Tanya Tucker, Pam Tillis, and Lee Greenwood (that's right, the guy who wrote God Bless the USA, heard underneath every fireworks spectacular I have ever seen) There were many, many, many, more. My job as the input guy was to convert a stage plot that a band had given me into an actual set of microphones, cabling, and power that was appropriate for their band, and then verify that the FOH and monitor positions had all signals, that all signals were sent to the right sets of channels, (bass signals in the bass channels, drums in the drum channels, etc.) and to also assist the monitor engineer whenever possible. It was a lot of fun!

The challenge for me was being able to clearly articulate what needed to happen to other members of the crew, so that the burden of work was distributed evenly, that way I could concentrate on the channels popping up in the right holes, being able to troubleshoot while other people worked off of my sub plan. I got stressed out a couple of times, but I made it all happen, and I only freaked the front of house guy a bit. All in all, it was a good, learning experience, and I am ready to do it again.

Lastly, Amazon.com keeps rejecting my payment information, which I don't understand. I have updated my payment information, which never changed, and they keep threatening to cancel my order, which would be depressing indeed. I have Joysticks and a Tikka headlamp on order, which seems like I ordered weeks and weeks ago, yet still hasn't arrived.

As for Beth's puppy dog request, if we move, I guess so.

When you think about, we are all getting slightly older, all the time.
