liveblogging from Amtrak's Sunset Limited Line

In case you haven't heard, because we have been talking about it constantly for what seems like months, Beth and I are on an Amtrak train travelling from New Orleans to Los Angeles.

We arrived at the station via the inimitable Donald Keller, who is house/ dog sitting for us while we travel/ visit family for Christmas. The New Orleans Amtrak terminal is shared with Greyhound bus lines. We approached the ticket counter and were promptly issued tickets from our web reservation and a bag claim ticket for our one checked bag.

We then waited in line for 3 minutes and then were allowed to board the train.
